      Dynamo win Desert Diamond Cup

      New coach. New roster. New result. The Dynamo picked up the first trophy of the 2017 season on Saturday, Houston won the sixth annual Desert Diamond Cup with a 2-0 victory over Colorado Rapids at Kino North Stadium. The Dynamo finished with a 3-0-1 record in the preseason tournament that fielded 10 MLS teams including New York City FC, New York Red Bulls, Colorado Rapids, Sporting Kansas City, New England Revolution and the Dynamo. Romell Quioto scored the two goals for the Dynamo in the championship match in the 43rd and 65th minute. Quioto was named the tournament Golden Boot winner and MVP.       Sounders break camp in South Carolina with lingering health questions

      The Sounders scrimmaged against the College of Charleston on Sunday morning before boarding a flight back to Seattle to prepare for next Saturday’s season opener in Houston. And they carried some extra baggage with them. The team got some health answers concerning forward Clint Dempsey and goalkeeper Stefan Frei on this 11-day trip. But they also had more questions added with defender Brad Evans being unable to play the final games due to a calf problem that appears likely to sideline him next weekend. If Evans can’t go, then Gustav Svensson, who played the full game here on Saturday, would slot in as the starting right back. Oneil Fisher would also be in that mix, but he’s under concussion protocol
