The three-year, $45.3 million contract cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha(notes) signed with the Oakland Raiders in 2009 was voided this offseason due to him not hitting certain statistical targets outlined in the deal, but that doesn't mean there won't be plenty of teams trying to obtain the 29-year-old four-time Pro Bowler this offseason.
One of those teams isn't likely to be the New York Jets, where he'd partner with Darrelle Revis(notes), according to the New York Daily News, "despite speculation" that he would like to play for Rex Ryan's squad.
Last year, Asomugha said he'd like to play with Revis: "Me and Revis have been talking to Rex to try to do something," Asomugha said, according to the paper. "You may see us in the future. There's a little bit of talk going on. Either he's coming to Oakland or something else will happen.""
The paper reports that the Jets will be focused on re-signing their own players. "Of course, never rule anything completely out with the Jets' active front office," the Daily News warns.
