NFL - Sports Rumors

Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Anquan Boldin(notes) has been crowing his sad tale for a long time now: He wants freedom from the contract that he signed; he wants out of Arizona. And the team just won't trade him. After all, Coach Ken Whisenhunt thinks the team is better with Boldin in the lineup.

But the rumor going around, according to the Arizona Republic, is that the team will see what it can get for Boldin this coming off-season. Who wants such a negative influence hanging around? And the team is 5-1 without Boldin over the last two seasons. And it's not like the Cards don't have any talented wide receivers: Steve Breaston(notes), Jerheme Urban(notes), and Early Doucet(notes) seem to get the job done without so much drama.

It's clear the Cardinals will never get Boldin to sign an extension so the general feeling is that the team is hoping to trade him this off-season instead of just letting him walk after next season with nothing coming in return.

Hope he goes to a weak team then. He is in a good situation now as long as Kurt is QB. Arizona is a winning team and this idiot wants to leave. I don't understand it.

Good luck with that. They missed that boat by about a year. They should have let him go after last year.....while he was STILL HEALTHY!
Of course, they really on screwed Anquan on that deal. I doubt they are too concerned with draft picks, but he could have landed a much bigger contract if they would have let him go. Going on 30 and dealing with ankle injuries......not good!

Good, I hope so. Like it says, 5-1 w/o him and the cards do have other qualified receivers. Get him out. Besides, what will the sportswriters have to knock then when the cards win? Bye bye baby

1st - Uber you are a serious emabarassment to humanity. Grow up or stay away from here.
2nd - Love boldin's talent and toughness, but am really tired of the drama. Either the Cards need o deal with him or trade him. Hope we can survive the rest of the season without much more of this.

We dont need another WR at all! Trade hime to Philly for a high round draft pick and Vick!! After Warner is done next year, we are in trouble. Been saying this for years, Leinart is NOT our answer. Let Vick come in, learn from Kurt on and off the field so that he can have a mentor. Sign him to an extension. Vick doesnt need to 100% b/c our WRs find the ball. Why not?

Boldin is a class act, and has greatly contributed to this team. The Bidwells have not recognized that. If he leaves, I wish him the best and be a fan of him no matter where he goes, i've seen him do great things as a Cardinal. Anyone calling him a drama queen just doesn't know about Anquan Boldin that well. Boldin is a competitor. I hope to see him remain a Cardinal, as I would love to see more greats spend their entire careers as an Arizona Cardinal, like Wilson, and Fitz. Best of luck to Boldin regardless of where he winds up.

#18 - "Anyone calling him a drama queen doesn't know about Anquan that well." How can you say that if you do not know him personally? And being a competitor does not mean you should lose your head. This guy got pissed last year in the playoffs because he was replaced for a ONE play. THAT is a drama queen. The guy is on a team that is finally doing something right and yet he still finds something to complain about. You just can't win with some of these guys.

Why not its seems like every time Bolden is out Fitz steps up and has big games. Why not trade for a high draft pick and get that qb that will step in for Warner.

Quan it's time to go. We loved you for what you did, but now you're just a whiny little beotch! Doesn't matter where he goes, he's never been a number one guy, so he won't get number one money unless he ends up on the Raiders, or the Skins and that's about what he deserves after all the bs that has come out of his mouth the last two seasons. Lot's of dropped passes this year as well Quan, not really a ringing endorsement for a big contract. Good luck suck-er.

While I am certainly no fan of the way the Bidwells run that team and treat their personnel . . . Boldins actual value is far less than what I'm sure their hoping to get. . . . unless their willing to take a 2nd round pick - he stays in AZ and walks after next year. There were alot of suitors offering 1st round picks last year - - not so much anymore. But if the Bears wanted to package a 4th round pick and Tommy Harris - - I wouldn't complain.
