Beyond pure natural talent, being an Olympic athlete also requires quite a bit of work, especially if you’re Olympic gold-medal-winning gymnast, Gabby Douglas.

Now 20 years old, the former member of the 2012 Olympic “Fierce Five” — comprised of teammates McKayla Maroney, Aly Raisman, Kyla Ross and Jordyn Wieber — is back and gunning to make the 2016 Olympic team, which is no easy feat. Especially when on top of preparing for the Olympic Trials, Douglas is also in the midst of working on her new show, Douglas Family Gold,on Oxygen, designing a leotard line, and building a “Gabbymoji” mobile keyboard. Busy lady, indeed!

Douglas shared her training regimen with PopSugar, and it’s nothing short of rigorous. She starts every day at 7 a.m., allowing a full hour to prepare a full breakfast and spend time with her grandmother before hitting the gym at 8 a.m. (In case you’re wondering, she keeps it light with a cup of oatmeal and tea to maximize twisting and turning first thing in the morning.)

Morning training runs through noon, which she refers to as “grueling, nonstop action.” All the work deserves some play, and Douglas allows herself a two-hour lunch break to relax, refuel and chat with the other gymnasts.

But it’s not over yet. Douglas then undergoes two and a half hours of afternoon training before heading home around 4:30 p.m. to spend time with her family before dinner. After a day of rigorous physical activity, she knows how to take it easy with some tactical meditation and an early bedtime.

“Every night, I meditate, and sometimes I will just lie quietly visualizing my routines,” Douglas told PopSugar. “I get about eight hours of sleep every night. Then I wake up and do it all over again. But for now, it’s time for some much needed rest and sweet dreams of Rio!”

And we’re happy when we can make it to the gym for an hour four days a week! No matter how much we dreamed of it, it looks like Olympic gymnastics was never in the cards for most of us. Read the rest of Gabby’s full daily training schedule here.
