New Utah State athletic director Scott Barnes says there's no magic number of wins that will guarantee the job security of fourth-year head coach Brent Guy (6-29) beyond 2008.
What he wants to see is more improvement like the Aggies showed at the end of last season with back-to-back victories at New Mexico State and Idaho. Barnes, who replaced Guy supporter Randy Spetman in March, said he has no plans to bring in his own coach to lead a program that hasn't finished above .500 since 1996.
"Not even on the radar screen," he told the Utah Statesman. "We have our guy. Brent Guy is our guy."
In addition to that vote of confidence, Guy's optimism for 2008 was further boosted by Utah State's most productive spring season in years. ...More |
