Vietnam lawmakers to hold extraordinary meeting on personnel issues
Vietnam's parliament is set to meet on Thursday afternoon to discuss personnel issues, the office of the country's lawmaking body said on Wednesday, five days after its chairman, Vuong Dinh Hue, quit due to personal reasons. The National Assembly last month convened a special meeting to accept the sudden resignation of then president Vo Van Thuong, who quit amid a long-running campaign against corruption. Aside from discussing Hue's resignation, it is not immediately clear what other decisions or appointments would be made at Thursday's special session as the country still needs to find and approve permanent successors to both the president and the chairman of the National Assembly.
