    Melinda French Gates on her working partnership with Bill

    Melinda French Gates and ex-husband Bill Gates, co-founder and former CEO of Microsoft (MSFT), founded the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation in 2000. Since its inception, the health and social-focused philanthropy has issued $77.6 billion in grants.After 27 years of marriage, the two divorced in 2021, leaving the world wondering about the future of their roles at the foundation. In May, French Gates announced her resignation from the foundation to continue her work at her own company, Pivotal Ventures, with a focus on securing gender equality through investing in women-led businesses. In mid-March, before her resignation announcement, French Gates told Yahoo Finance how she grappled with the challenges of marriage and running the foundation when working through her divorce from Gates behind the scenes.
