SuperSonics general manager Sam Presti put to rest two weeks of speculation on who the team's future head coach will be with one word.

"Absolutely," Presti answered when asked whether P.J. Carlesimo would be back.

Presti created uncertainty about the coaching situation when he declined to affirm after the final game that Carlesimo would be back for his second season. Known for his thoroughness, Presti said he needed to talk with Carlesimo and Sonics chairman Clay Bennett to figure out the direction of the team before making his decision.

Fueling speculation that Carlseimo could be on his way out was the availability of talented coaches like former Dallas coach Avery Johnson and Larry Brown, recently hired by the Charlotte Bobcats.
