Will the real Los Angeles Lakers please stand up.

The Los Angeles Daily News raised the possibility that the team that lost by 15 to the Yao-less Houston Rockets Thursday night is the real Los Angeles Lakers.

The Daily News wrote: You have to consider the possibility that the Lakers just are who they are now, not what we thought they were. Right now at least, they are not the dominating team that steamrolled the Western Conference and conjured up visions of 70 wins earlier this season. Nor are they the offensive powerhouse that blasted Cleveland and Boston on their home courts back in February.

"We've played much better, and on a more consistent basis. But we're not (right now)," Kobe Bryant(notes) said. "The key right now is just to win by any means necessary. Just win the damn series, get the (heck) out of this one and be ready for the next one."

Against Utah in 98 - 3airballs , Against jordan in his 1st allstar game - owned by MJ , against Detroit in 04 - lost , against Phoenix in playoffs - 1st round exits , against Boston in 08 , crushed by 37 ... In the biggest obstacles of kobes career, he is more likely to fail than succeed.. And just like all those times he lost, he didnt go down fighting, he just went down, thinking who to blame... Even if the Lakers win this series against the Rockets, it wouldnt be anything since this is a team that they are supposed to beat in 4... Its a question of Kobes leadership in which surprisngly-he still lacks it... I think we are seeing Lebrons moon eclipsing Kobes sun...

Maybe the Lakers want to see a Game 7. If you think about it, they have never experienced a game 7 in the playoffs, not that i can remember except for that Phonix one, that doesnt count. Maybe they are preparing for a game 7 with Cleveland!!! Maybe im just giving bullshiet excuses for the lakers right now, but if they do lose. Mich trade the dam sissy players for rugged players like Scola and Landry. Get rid of sissy, Sasha, sissy Luke, and get some real players. TO WIN GAME 7 they gotta unleash the CONGO MAN MEBENGAAAAA!!!!!

Well....as they say in soccer, True champions (Lakers) even manage to win when they are playing badly - so just gettin there, series by series, is good enough. JUST GET THERE!

Rockets are playing tough. No matter what happens in game 7 I am proud of the Rockets. Considering the talent they have injured there really is no excuse for the #1 seeded Lakers to be struggling this badly against them. I would love to see the Rockets finish them off, and continue forward, but with the loss of McGrady and Yao realistically I did not expect them to get to where they are now.
I think they need to look at trading McGrady and Yao to get a more durable center. I like Yao a lot but he cannot last the season and playoffs. They need a tough nosed mobile player to be able to compliment the style of the rest of the team. Yao is a bit slow and after however many years he still seems to lack the conditioning to last an entire season.

skimming through articles to get the latest on game 6.. (missed it) I'm entertained at these comments , one thing for sure "(some of you) have way too much time on your hands ... to replay all the negative from back in the day re' Kobe really makes me laugh!!.. and to further say the Lakers can't win one without Shaq.. really bust my guts.. People it's a Basketball Game!! The Lakers will win on Sunday , a Game 7 was the wake up call the team needed.. it will unleash the Champs they truly are.. the Lakers will bring hunger, determination and an unstoppable killer instinct to the Rockets.. also mentally they will be prepared for those Nuggets.. for those who post nasty, negative not needed comments about Kobe.. RELAX !! he's the best at what he does.. and could take any of you to the hole blind folded

The Lakers WILL win on Sunday as they need a WAKE UP CALL to win a game, just check the series and see how they've responded after a loss and then after a win. But championship teams don't win Championships like that, so I don't see an NBA ring in their future... of course unless they get shaq in the offseason.

No more excuses. Just play, like the Celtics are doing now. If you lose in game, just shut up, and prepare for next year. If you win, which is what 99% of the people outside houston think, still, just shut up and prepare for, most probably, Cleveland.

It's a money thing. These games are meant to go 7 because of the economy. Com'on, Calif is having a rough time with income and so is Houston. It's a shame u can't figure that out. The Lakers will still win in 7....F*%$ the Celtics.
