New York Knicks owner James Dolan may have promised team president Donnie Walsh that he wouldn't hire Isiah Thomas in any capacity, but that's not stopping him from soliciting advice from his old friend, according to the New York Daily News.
Walsh is on the cusp of signing an extension, but he has to decide if he's comfortable with Dolan's dependence on his friend Thomas for advice. The Daily News reports that Thomas is working the back channels to steer Chris Paul(notes) to New York next summer, if not sooner. Paul becomes a free agent after next season.
The Daily News writes that Thomas "has sold himself to Dolan as a keen talent evaluator with the street cred to influence today's superstars. And Dolan likes the results."
