Monday crash leaves 1 person dead near Myrtle Beach

One person has died following a crash in the Myrtle Beach area Monday, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol.

The single-vehicle wreck involved a GMC suburban, which had two occupants, said Corporal Tyler Tidwell.

The driver was taken to the hospital, and the passenger died. That person’s name will be released by the coroner.

The GMC was southbound on S.C. 31 when it ran off the right side of the highway before hitting a tree near the 16 mile marker about 1:10 p.m., according to Tidwell.

No additional details have been released.
