The Florida Marlins are in second place in the National League East, only two games behind the Philadelphia Phillies, but starting pitcher Javier Vazquez(notes) hasn't had much to do with that.

After Sunday's 8-4 loss to the Washington Nationals, Vazquez is 2-4 with a 7.55 ERA and he doesn't sound like he's feeling good about himself, according to the Palm Beach Post.

"I'm doing my best. Believe me, man. I'm doing my best, but nothing's working, nothing's working. Nothing. Absolutely nothing," he said, the paper reports. "It's all negative right now for me. There's no positive right now. I'm going out there, giving the team three, four innings. That's not going to cut it,"

But the Post reports that the Marlins "don't sound like they're ready to give up on Vazquez." The team has him scheduled to pitch again on Friday against the Tampa Bay Rays and then again after that against the San Francisco Giants, the Post notes.
