Player Notes
Twins manager Paul Molitor told Dana Wessel of 96.3 FM in Minneapolis that Byron Buxton (thumb) will be sidelined for "probably at least a month."

Advice: Buxton suffered a left thumb sprain Tuesday on a stolen base attempt. He played the next day, which obviously wasn't a good idea and he wound up going 0-for-4 with four strikeouts. The Twins could put Danny Santana back in center field while Buxton is out, with Shane Robinson and Aaron Hicks (when he returns from the disabled list) also representing options.

Twins placed OF Byron Buxton on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to June 25, with a left thumb sprain.

Advice: Buxton evidently suffered the injury on Tuesday on a stolen base attempt. He played the next day and struck out in all four of his plate appearances. Twins manager Paul Molitor said that Buxton will probably be sidelined for "at least a month" of action.

Byron Buxton struck out in all four of his plate appearances Wednesday afternoon against the White Sox.

Advice: Buxton moved back into the leadoff spot for today's game, but he looked easily overmatched by Chicago ace Chris Sale. The dynamic center field prospect is batting .189/.231/.270 in his first 37 major league at-bats.

Byron Buxton is hitting leadoff for the Twins on Wednesday.

Advice: Chris Sale is on the mound for the White Sox, and it appears we can expect Buxton to hit leadoff versus lefties and ninth against righties for the time being. The youngster has just seven hits in his first 33 at-bats.

Byron Buxton is batting ninth for the Twins on Tuesday.

Advice: Buxton went 3-for-5 with a double and three runs scored out of the leadoff spot Monday night against the White Sox, but that apparently wasn't enough to convince Twins manager Paul Molitor that he deserves a prominent spot in the batting lineup. It's disappointing.

Byron Buxton went 3-for-5 with a double and three runs scored in Monday's cakewalk win over the White Sox.

Advice: Buxton led off the bottom of the first with a double, then quickly scored on Brian Dozier's single. He reached on an infield single in the sixth inning and later came around to score, then singled to lead off the eighth and later scored on a Dozier homer. Buxton entered the game batting .120 (3-for-25) since making his major league debut. His slow start isn't surprising, but the talent is certainly there and was on display Monday.

Byron Buxton is batting leadoff for the Twins in Monday's game versus the White Sox.

Advice: Buxton hit ninth in each of his first eight contests. He's managed just three hits in his first 25 at-bats for Minnesota, so manager Paul Molitor must be hoping that the move up the lineup jump-starts the youngster. Buxton had his first major league stolen base on Sunday.
