Player Notes
Twins outfield prospect Byron Buxton went 2-for-6 with two doubles on Saturday for High-A Fort Myers.

Advice: Buxton also struck out three times in his six plate appearances, and his 28.2 strikeout percentage is much higher than the 19.4 percent he had in 2013 while in High-A. Timing and pitch recognition often take time to return after a long layoff, and Buxton missed approximately three months due to a wrist injury. He is likely to return to the Arizona Fall League this year to pick up additional at bats, and should make his Double-A debut in 2015.

Twins outfield prospect Byron Buxton is back in the lineup for High-A Fort Myers Thursday.

Advice: Buxton missed the previous five games after being hit on the right wrist (it was the left one that caused him to miss two months of action) with a pitch. The top prospect is batting .280/.357/.520 with three homers, six RBI and two steals over 13 games for Fort Myers this season.

Twins outfield prospect Byron Buxton stayed hot on Friday for High-A Fort Myers, going 4-for-6 with a home run, two walks, and a hit by pitch.

Advice: Buxton has gone 9-for-15 with a triple and two home runs over his last three games, raising his season line to .280/.357/.520. Buxton hit .326/.415/.472 with Fort Myers in 2013, and could be in line for a promotion to Double-A New Britain in short order. Despite missing the first three months of the season, Buxton is still the top prospect in baseball. The injury has obfuscated his timeline, but he could be in the major leagues in early 2015.

Twins prospect OF Byron Buxton went 2-for-5 with a solo home run on Thursday for High-A Fort Myers.

Advice: The 20-year-old, who is widely viewed as baseball's No. 1 overall prospect, is still getting back into the swing of things after returning earlier this month from a lengthy DL stint, but the fact that he was able to jump the yard Thursday is a good sign that his wrist is feeling better. After going a combined 0-for-8 in his first three games back, Buxton has now hit safely in his last four contests, batting .438 with a home run, double and two RBI during that span. At his current pace, it may not be long before the toolsy outfielder receives a promotion to Double-A New Britain.
