Player Notes
Jose Fernandez allowed three runs (none earned) in seven innings, taking home the no-decision as the Marlins lost to the Nationals on Wednesday night.

Advice: Fernandez allowed four hits, walked none, and struck out 10. The only blemish came on Jayson Werth's game-tying three-run home run in the sixth inning, which was set up by catcher Jarrod Saltalamacchia's throwing error. As all three runs were unearned, Fernandez lowered his ERA to 2.66. He now has 33 strikeouts in 23 2/3 innings. Fernandez will face the Braves in his next start.

Jose Fernandez was knocked around for a career-high six earned runs over four-plus innings in a loss to the Phillies on Friday.

Advice: Fernandez entered Friday's outing with a streak of 20 straight starts with three runs or fewer allowed, but he just didn't have it Friday. He gave up eight hits and four walks before getting pulled in the fifth inning. The only bright spot was a stretch where he struck out six consecutive batters. He'll attempt to dust himself off and bounce back next week against the Nationals.
