Player Notes
Matt Harvey is dealing with a mild left ankle sprain.

Advice: He's still expected to make his scheduled start Saturday against the Yankees. It seems to be a minor affliction but is worth keeping an eye on during Saturday's game.

Matt Harvey is having his foot examined by doctors.

Advice: It's being called a minor issue, but Harvey acknowledged Wednesday that he's been bothered by it for months. The ace right-hander is still penciled in for his Saturday start at Yankee Stadium, but this situation obviously warrants monitoring. He pitched through an unrelated illness on Sunday against the Marlins and allowed four runs over six-plus innings.

Matt Harvey pitched through an illness in Sunday's start against the Marlins and claimed that he felt weak and had been unable to swallow prior to the game.

Advice: That could partially explain why he seemed to wear down in the seventh inning, but was still dominant enough to pick up his third victory of the season. He has been extremely impressive through his first three starts and looks as though he'll be stronger than he was before undergoing Tommy John surgery.

Matt Harvey earned this third win of the season, allowing four runs in six-plus innings as the Mets held on to a 7-6 win versus the Marlins on Sunday.

Advice: Harvey had limited the Marlins to two runs over the first six innings, but started the seventh inning and allowed a run on three consecutive singles before departing. Reliever Alex Torres later allowed Harvey's runner to score on a wild pitch. On the afternoon, Harvey gave up eight hits, walked none, and struck out seven. He owns a 3.50 ERA, a 1.00 WHIP, and a 24/1 K/BB ratio in 18 innings. Harvey will face the Yankees in the Bronx next weekend.

Matt Harvey improved to 2-0, allowing three runs over six innings as the Mets eked out a 6-5 win against the Phillies on Tuesday.

Advice: Some of the Phillies seemed to have Harvey figured out, as Chase Utley and Cody Asche both hit solo homers off of the right-hander. Others didn't, as Harvey struck out eight and walked none while allowing only five hits in total. Harvey will take on the currently 2-6 Marlins at home in his next start.

Mets manager Terry Collins said Tuesday that Matt Harvey won't be on such a restrictive pitch count in his second start Tuesday night against the Phillies.

Advice: Harvey was lifted at 92 pitches in his debut last Thursday versus the Nationals yet still managed to rack up nine strikeouts over six scoreless innings. He should be allowed to top 100 pitches on Tuesday at Citi Field and he has a very advantageous matchup against a weak Phillies lineup.
