Player Notes
Hector Santiago yielded two runs in 5 1/3 innings Monday in a victory over the Royals.

Advice: The Angels will probably get decent offers for Santiago, who has pitched well after a June swoon and now stands at 9-4 with a 4.28 ERA this season. It just remains to be seen whether Arte Moreno will be content to tank the rest of the season away. Injuries have killed the Angels' pitching depth, so if they trade Santiago and/or Matt Shoemaker, they stand to be one of the league's worst teams down the stretch.

Jon Morosi of MLB Network reports that the Marlins have inquired on Angels' starters, including left-hander Hector Santiago.

Advice: The Marlins have also presumably asked about Matt Shoemaker, who has been on a heck of a roll over the past two months. ESPN's Jerry Crasnick reported earlier Monday that the Angels are listening to offers on Santiago, who is under team control for one more season. The southpaw has a 4.32 ERA and 96/47 K/BB ratio over 110 1/3 innings this season. The Marlins are known to be in the market for starting pitching, especially with Wei-Yin Chen (elbow) going down.

ESPN's Jerry Crasnick reports the Angels are listening on starting pitcher Hector Santiago.

Advice: And several clubs have already inquired, per Crasnick's sources. Santiago is sporting a career-worst 4.32 ERA in 110 1/3 innings this season, but the 28-year-old left-hander managed a sharp 3.55 ERA in 532 2/3 innings between 2011 and 2015. He is eligible for arbitration for the third and final time in 2017.

Hector Santiago lasted just five innings against the Rangers on Wednesday, but still ended up with a victory after allowing three runs on five hits.

Advice: Santiago walked three and struck out three on the evening, laboring through 100 pitches in his five frames. The Rangers scratched out a pair of runs against him in the third inning, then added in the fourth on a solo homer by Mitch Moreland. Now 8-4 on the season, Santiago will carry a 4.32 ERA and 1.29 WHIP into Tuesday's start against the Royals in Kansas City.

Wed, Jul 20 Rotoworld
Hector Santiago blanked the White Sox for seven innings in the Angels' 7-0 victory on Friday.

Advice: Santiago allowed five hits, walked none and struck out seven. He has a 1.39 ERA in three career starts against his former team. It's too bad he hasn't been able to channel that same kind of energy while facing other teams lately.
