OF Casper Wells was optioned to Class AAA Tacoma to clear a roster spot for the return of C Miguel Olivo from the disabled list. Wells hit .213 with a .302 on-base percentage, one homer and six RBI in 25 games.

Wells has been optioned to Triple-A, Geoff Baker of the Seattle Times reports.
Recommendation: There was some talk that Chone Figgins would be the roster casualty for Miguel Olivo's return from the disabled list, but apparently the Mariners still haven't seen enough of him yet. Wells wasn't performing either, though, with just a .213/.302/.362 line in 25 games, and with an option remaining the Mariners made the easy move in sending him down.
