Player Notes
Pedro Alvarez had a rough day at the office in Friday's loss to the Brewers, going 0-for-5 with a pair of strikeouts.

Advice: He also left seven runners on base, which isn't what the Pirates are looking for from their biggest run producer. Though he does have six homers and 13 RBI on the season, he's slashing a putrid .175/.297/.476.

Pedro Alvarez went 2-for-3 and smacked his sixth homer Thursday against the Brewers.

Advice: Alvarez is now tied with Mark Trumbo and Jose Bautista for the major league lead in homers. He also walked twice tonight. He entered the game 1-for-21 with no RBI in his previous six games.

Fri, Apr 18 Rotoworld
Pedro Alvarez went 0-for-3 with two strikeouts in Wednesday's loss to the Reds to drop his season batting line to .161/.277/.446.

Advice: The Pirates had just three hits on the day and struck out 12 times. Alvarez has homered five times and driven in 10 runs to keep his fantasy value afloat, but there's a good chance he'll wind up hitting in the low-.200s again this season.

Pedro Alvarez hit a go-ahead three-run homer off James Russell in the seventh in the Pirates' 5-4 win over the Cubs on Thursday.

Advice: That's five homers for Alvarez to go along with his two singles and one double. It gives him an odd .229/.341/.686 line for the season. But while he's not hitting for average, he's struck out just six times in nine games, which is an encouraging sign for him. He's coming off back-to-back 180-strikeout campaigns.

Wed, Apr 16 Rotoworld
Pedro Alvarez homered twice, but it wasn't enough as the Pirates lost to the Cubs on Wednesday.

Advice: Alvarez finished 2-for-4 on the night. His first blast game in the fifth inning off of Jason Hammel, and the second was off of Pedro Strop in the ninth. Alvarez is up to four home runs and is coming off of a 36-homer season.
