Player Notes
Pedro Alvarez went hitless in four plate appearances in Tuesday's loss to the Reds.

Advice: Alvarez has, on the whole, been above-average with the bat, but Tuesday's performance drops his average to .179. He's been below the Mendoza Line since April 12, indicative of an all-or-nothing approach at the plate. Strikeouts, walks, and home runs have accounted for 40 percent of his plate appearances.

Pedro Alvarez is not in the Pirates' lineup Sunday.

Advice: It appears to just be a day of rest. Josh Harrison is taking Alvarez's spot at third base. Russell Martin is also getting a breather, with Chris Stewart handling the catching duties.

Pedro Alvarez had a rough day at the office in Friday's loss to the Brewers, going 0-for-5 with a pair of strikeouts.

Advice: He also left seven runners on base, which isn't what the Pirates are looking for from their biggest run producer. Though he does have six homers and 13 RBI on the season, he's slashing a putrid .175/.297/.476.

Sun, Apr 20 Rotoworld
Pedro Alvarez went 2-for-3 and smacked his sixth homer Thursday against the Brewers.

Advice: Alvarez is now tied with Mark Trumbo and Jose Bautista for the major league lead in homers. He also walked twice tonight. He entered the game 1-for-21 with no RBI in his previous six games.

Fri, Apr 18 Rotoworld
Pedro Alvarez went 0-for-3 with two strikeouts in Wednesday's loss to the Reds to drop his season batting line to .161/.277/.446.

Advice: The Pirates had just three hits on the day and struck out 12 times. Alvarez has homered five times and driven in 10 runs to keep his fantasy value afloat, but there's a good chance he'll wind up hitting in the low-.200s again this season.
