LHP Ricky Romero's frustration is growing after he allowed a career-high seven walks six innings -- 105 pitches, 54 strikes -- in a no-decision Wednesday. Romero allowed two hits and four runs, throwing just 54 of 105 pitches for strikes. "The issue is with the command, particularly his fastball," manager John Farrell said.
Romero said, "If you don't have command of your fastball, the other stuff is kind of worthless."

Romero was wild Wednesday against the Rays, walking seven, hitting a batter and giving up four runs (on just two hits) in six innings. He struck out seven.
Recommendation: He threw 54 strikes and 51 balls, certainly not an impressive tally. Romero's control has utterly abandoned him this year, as he has an ugly 49:37 K:BB in 65.1 innings. A staggering 21 of those walks have come in his last four starts (a span of 23.1 innings). With his .247 BABIP entering Wednesday due for a course correction, things could get worse for Romero.
