Player Notes
Denard Span went 3-for-4 with a double, a solo home run, and three runs scored in the Nationals' loss to the Phillies on Wednesday.

Advice: In the fifth inning, Span crushed a Kyle Kendrick offering into the second deck at Citizens Bank Park, something rarely seen from the slap-hitting center fielder. He has two homers on the season along with 28 RBI, 27 stolen bases, and a .300/.351/.407 slash line.

Denard Span scored the winning run on an error in the bottom of the ninth as the Nationals topped the Diamondbacks 1-0 on Thursday to extend their winning streak to 10 games.

Advice: Span singled off a fine pitch from Oliver Perez, stole second and then scored after Jordan Pacheco rushed a throw on a grounder to third and ended up bouncing it past Adam LaRoche. It was Span's third time on base in the game, and he also had a sac bunt. He's hitting .302 with 27 steals, and he's now scored one more run in 117 games this year (76) than he did in 153 games last year.
