Player Notes
Denard Span went 2-for-5 with a strikeout in his return from the disabled list Saturday.

Advice: Span missed just over one week with concussion symptoms. The 30-year-old was back in the leadoff spot Saturday while Anthony Rendon was moved down to the No. 5 spot. He remains a useful option in deeper mixed formats.

Nationals activated OF Denard Span from the 7-day concussion disabled list.

Advice: Span is active and will return to the Nationals lineup on Saturday. He reported no issues after a pair of minor league rehab games with Low-A Hagerstown and isn't experiencing any post-concussion symptoms. Fantasy owners can safely insert him back into lineups.

Denard Span (concussion) went 1-for-2 with a walk in a minor league rehab game with Low-A Hagerstown on Friday.

Advice: Assuming he feels well enough afterwards, he'll be activated from the disabled list and is expected to rejoin the Nationals starting lineup on Saturday. The 30-year-old got off to a slow start with the bat, slashing .222/.300/.361 with four RBI in his first 10 games.

Denard Span (concussion) said he "felt like I hadn't had a concussion" during his first rehab game with Low-A Hagerstown Thursday.

Advice: Span went 1-for-2 with two walks and a stolen base in the game. "I felt good, man," Span said. "I felt the way I needed to feel. I felt into the game. I felt coherent. I felt everything I needed to feel. . I felt like I hadn't had a concussion, to be honest with you." The outfielder will play in another rehab game Friday before being activated Saturday if all goes well.

Denard Span could return from the concussion disabled list on Saturday.

Advice: Span first has to make it through rehab games on Thursday and Friday. He was placed on the 7-day concussion disabled list April 12 after a collision with Braves infielder Dan Uggla. All reports so far have been good.

Nationals manager Matt Williams said Tuesday that Denard Span (concussion) could play in a couple rehab games by the end of the week.

Advice: Span took batting practice for the second straight day Tuesday and is progressively feeling better. He took the ImPACT concussion test Tuesday and scored higher than when he took the test back in 2008. He could return to Washington on Wednesday to be examined by team doctors, at which point he could be cleared for rehab games. It's sounding like Span could be activated on Saturday when first eligible.

Denard Span (concussion) took batting practice in the cage Monday.

Advice: The plan calls for him to rest for a bit before taking BP on the field. He'll then rest again before seeing the team doctor. The Nationals will obviously be cautious given his history, but the hope is that he won't have to miss significant time.

Denard Span (concussion) hopes to take batting practice on Monday.

Advice: Span was placed on the concussion disabled list Saturday but was feeling much better Sunday. The Nationals will be cautious with his concussion history, but the outfielder insists that this concussion isn't nearly as bad as the one he suffered back in 2011.

Denard Span is not in the Nationals' lineup Thursday.

Advice: Nate McLouth will lead off and play center field in Washington's series-finale against the Marlins. Span, who's 7-for-29 (.241), is merely getting a day of rest.
