Player Notes
Denard Span (abdomen) is back in the Nationals' lineup Sunday.

Advice: Span missed the previous two contests after being lifted from Thursday's game when he felt soreness in the area where he had core muscle surgery. It's doubtful that he's 100 percent, but it appears the outfielder will gut it out.

Denard Span (abdomen) is expected to return to the Nationals' starting lineup Sunday.

Advice: He left Thursday's game with abdomen soreness and has been out of the lineup the last two days. Fortunately for fantasy owners, Span should be ready to go for Washington's series finale against the Mets. Span underwent core muscle surgery in March so this injury is something to keep an eye on throughout the year. Michael Taylor usually starts at center field when Span is sidelined.

Denard Span (abdomen) is not in the Nationals' lineup Friday.

Advice: Span had to leave Thursday's game against the Mets due to soreness in his abdomen. It's a worrisome injury given that he had dual core muscle surgeries over the offseason, but the Nats are hopeful at this time that he'll be able to return to the lineup sometime over the weekend. Michael Taylor is in center field and in the leadoff spot Friday in Span's place.

Denard Span was removed from Thursday's game against the Mets due to soreness in his abdomen.

Advice: Span has been playing a lot since his return from the disabled list which has caused some soreness in the abdomen. Nationals manager Matt Williams said that Span will also be rested on Friday as a precautionary measure, though he should be able to return at some point over the weekend.

Denard Span was removed from Thursday's game against the Mets in the sixth inning for unknown reasons.

Advice: It's unclear if he suffered some type of injury or aggravation of his core injury that he just returned from. The Nationals should have an update on his status shortly. Michael Taylor replaced him in center field and would see increased playing time in his absence.

Denard Span went 2-for-6 with a double and a three-run home run as the Nationals handily defeated the Braves on Wednesday.

Advice: Span is fresh off of a five-hit night on Tuesday and kept it going on Wednesday. Span doubled and scored in the seventh inning, then clubbed a three-run home run to put the game out of reach in the ninth. A pair of productive nights at the dish have brought his batting line up to .317/.341/.561 along with two home runs and seven RBI.

Denard Span went 5-for-6 with three doubles, a solo home run, and four runs scored to help lead the Nationals past the Braves on Tuesday.

Advice: In a night full of unlikely performances, Span's five-hit night is among them as he came in batting .207 in 32 plate appearances following an abdominal injury. Span scored the Nats' first two runs but watched his team fall behind 10-2 after four innings. He doubled and scored in the fifth and hit a solo homer in the sixth, helping the Nationals overcome the Braves and score 13 runs. The outstanding performance pushes Span's triple-slash line to .314/.342/.486.
