Player Notes
Denard Span left Monday's game against the Reds with back spasms.

Advice: Span is probably looking forward to the All-Star break in order to have some rest, as he's dealt with the back issue off and on for a month now. Consider him day-to-day.

Denard Span left Monday's game against the Reds with an undisclosed injury.

Advice: Span has dealt with back issues recently and it's possible they cropped up again. It could also be the Nationals being proactive with the wet conditions in D.C. The Nats should have an update on Span shortly.

Denard Span is not in the Nationals starting lineup for Saturday's contest against the Giants.

Advice: It appears to be nothing more than a regular day of rest for the veteran outfielder who has seen his fair share of injuries this season. Michael Taylor will slide over to center field and bat leadoff for the Nationals against Madison Bumgarner and the Giants.

Denard Span singled and stole two bases Thursday against the Braves.

Advice: Span went 1-for-3 with a hit-by-pitch. He's now a perfect 11-for-11 in stolen base attempts this season. The 31-year-old got a late start on the season after core muscle surgery and has battled various bumps and bruises since, but he still has a very strong .310/.373/.441 batting line over 56 games.

Denard Span is in Tuesday's lineup against the Braves.

Advice: Like Bryce Harper, Span sat out the second game of Sunday's doubleheader. The veteran outfielder has been dealing with a nagging back issue of late, but he's good to go.

Denard Span is not in the Nationals starting lineup for the second game of Sunday's doubleheader.

Advice: Span returned to the lineup in the first game on Sunday after missing the previous few days with a lingering back issue. He went 2-for-4 with a double and run scored in the day game, and should return to the top of the Nationals lineup on Tuesday.
