Player Notes
Astros signed OF Colby Rasmus to a one-year, $8 million contract.

Advice: The deal came together quickly on Tuesday. Rasmus batted just .225/.287/.448 in 2014 for the Blue Jays, but he had a really good 2013 and was once a top prospect in the Cardinals' system. Astros GM Jeff Luhnow actually selected Rasmus in the first round of the 2005 MLB Amateur Draft, when he was the Cardinals' vice president of player procurement, so it's a reunion of sorts. Rasmus will try to rebuild his value at age 28. He should remain a decent power threat in fantasy.

CBS Sports' Jon Heyman hears that the Astros and free agent outfielder Colby Rasmus have agreed to a one-year contract.

Advice: FOX Sports' Jon Morosi hears that it will be worth more than $4 million. Rasmus gives the Astros yet another option for center field along with Jake Marisnick and George Springer. They have a lot of moving pieces in their lineup, including the recently-acquired Evan Gattis.

Colby Rasmus told Brian McTaggart of MLB.com that he's in Houston for a physical.

Advice: Rasmus said nothing is done, but this would seem to indicate that the two sides are very close to a deal. The 28-year-old appears upbeat about the possibility. "I've always been tight with [GM Jeff Luhnow] and he's always been good to me," Rasmus told McTaggart. The Orioles and Rays have also been mentioned as possibilities for Rasmus in recent weeks.

FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal reports that the Astros are talking to free agent outfielder Colby Ramsus.

Advice: SB Nation's Crawfish Boxes heard a tip that Rasmus is in the Houston area, which is an indication that something could be close. At the very least, the Astros should be considered a strong possibility after dealing Dexter Fowler to the Cubs on Monday. It's worth noting that Astros GM Jeff Luhnow picked Rasmus when he was with the Cardinals. Houston would be a decent landing spot for Rasmus from a fantasy perspective, but he'd be yet another high-strikeout guy in a lineup that already has a bunch of them.

Eduardo A. Encina of the Baltimore Sun reports that free agent Colby Rasmus is seeking a one-year deal in excess of the $7 million he made in 2014.

Advice: Encina adds that $7 million is more than the Orioles are willing to pay. Talks between Rasmus and the Orioles had reportedly been "gaining steam" lately. Rasmus has also talked with the Rays. The 28-year-old batted .225/.287/.448 with 18 home runs and 40 RBI in 376 plate appearances for the Blue Jays in 2014.
