Volstad has been optioned to Triple-A Iowa, ESPN Chicago reports.
Recommendation: With Volstad headed down to the minors, Travis Wood will be called up in time to make a start for the Cubs on Tuesday against Houston.

RHP Chris Volstad was optioned to Class AAA (Des Moines) Iowa. He lasted just two innings Thursday night in an 8-7 loss to the Phillies to fall to 0-6 with a 7.46 ERA. The Cubs likely will recall LHP Travis Wood from Iowa next week to start at Houston in Volstad's slot. Wood made an emergency start earlier this month and pitched well against the Dodgers in getting a no-decision.
