Advice: Colorado penciled CarGo into center when they traded Dexter Fowler to the Astros. "It's something that's been the topic of conversation," Weiss said, when asked if it was fair to ask Gonzalez to play center. "We want to be careful. Not that you can prevent every injury, but it's my job to give him a break here and there and save his legs, because he is going to be running around that big outfield in center field. ... I think Cargo is excited about it. He's going to come into spring training knowing that he's going to have to do that and play that position."

Advice: It's the first time he's tested out his sprained right middle finger since playing in the instructional league. "It's getting stronger. It felt really good. No issues," said Gonzalez. "I am happy with how it feels." CarGo decided against surgery on the finger and doesn't want to change the way he grips the bat, worrying that it will compromise his power. It's certainly something to monitor going forward.

Advice: The Rockies have a vacancy at the top of the order after dealing Dexter Fowler to the Astros, and the oft-injured superstar has experience in that role. Whoever wins the position battles at second base or left field would also be candidates to leadoff, but it appears that CarGo is the favorite at the moment. If so, it would be a detriment to his RBI chances, but should boost his runs scored and potentially stolen base totals.
