Aybar (knee) returned to the starting lineup Thursday.
Recommendation: Aybar did not start Wednesday's game after bruising his knee Tuesday, but it appears his omission from the lineup was only precautionary. Aybar was on a 10-for-21 hot streak prior to suffering the injury, so hopefully that's a sign he is getting back on track at the plate after owning a .189 batting average as recently as May 17.

SS Erick Aybar was not in the starting lineup Wednesday after being hit on the outside of his right knee by a pitch in the seventh inning of Tuesday's game. "It's a little sore," manager Mike Scioscia said. "It's in an area that's tough. You're talking about a guy who plays a position where he needs that mobility, and running is an important part of his game." Aybar flied out as a pinch hitter in the 10th inning Wednesday, and the injury is just considered a day-to-day issue.
