Wang left Saturday's game against the Blue Jays in the sixth inning with a strained right shoulder. Recommendation: Wang's been pitching better lately, but really his whole season has been a disaster. His WHIP is an ugly 2.02 and his ERA is at 9.64. Phil Hughes is throwing pellets lately and might be a candidate for the rotation if Wang needs to miss any time. |

Wang won for the first time in more than a year as the Yankees beat the Mets 4-2 on Sunday. Advice: Still struggling with his command, Wang allowed four hits and three walks in a season-high 5 1-3 innings. Following a season-ending foot injury last June, Wang has been unable to rediscover the form that made him a 19-game winner in 2006 and '07. His previous win was June 15 last year in Houston and he was 0-3 with a 34.50 ERA after three starts this season, then went on the disabled list for nearly a month with weakness in the adductor muscles in his hips. |

RHP Chien-Ming Wang finally won his first game of the season - and first since getting injured last June 8. In so doing, Wang continued his recent trend of pitching more respectably than he had in his first three starts, but not looking entirely like the pitcher who twice won 19 games. On Sunday against a Mets lineup decimated by injury, Wang lasted just 5 1/3 innings and yielded two runs on four hits and three walks. The start, like his most recent ones, was obviously an improvement on his disastrous stint at the beginning of the season, but wasn't nearly enough to label Wang as a front-of-the-rotation starter again. |
