3B Edwin Encarnacion, who was acquired in a trade with the Cincinnati Reds last year, underwent surgery on his left wrist last week. A large bone spur was shaved off his hamate bone by Dr. Tom Graham in Baltimore. Encarnacion is expected to be ready for spring training. In 42 games with the Jays (154 at-bats), Encarnacion hit .240 with eight homers and 23 RBIs.

Encarnacion underwent successful surgery on his left wrist last Friday, the Toronto Star reports.
Recommendation: Encarnacion had a bone spur removed. He is expected to be healthy in time for spring training.
