Putz (elbow) may make a few rehab appearances during the All-Star break, the Seattle Times reports. Recommendation: This would put him on pace to return to the Mariners in the third week of July. Manager Jim Riggleman said Putz would not close initially, but should wrangle back the closer's role from Brandon Morrow. |

Putz was eligible to come off the 15-day disabled list on Friday but will remain on the DL through the All-Star break, and perhaps deep into July, reports the Mariners' official Web site. Advice: It's possible that Putz may not go back into the role of closer immediately when he does return, according to the Seattle Times. There should be no rush to bring Putz back considering the Mariners' descent into the AL West cellar. |
