J.J. Putz will not require major elbow surgery.
Advice: Putz has been diagnosed with a sprained ligament, a strained flexor pronator and nerve irritation in his right elbow -- all of which can be addressed through rehab. He will try to return before the end of the 2013 season. Heath Bell has taken over Arizona's ninth-inning gig.
