Laird will start behind the plate Wednesday against the Indians, Tigers Director of Media Relations Brian Britten reports.
Recommendation: It appears that Wednesday will just be an off day for Alex Avila, who has started seven games in a row. Laird has acquitted himself well as the backup catcher, batting .281 with a home run and three RBI on the season.
