Jul 1 C Gerald Laird responded well to a day of rest, getting an RBI double in the second inning for Detroit's only run. Laird has gotten a little more rest now that the Tigers have changed backups, swapping out the light-hitting C Dane Sardinha for C Dusty Ryan, who caught Tuesday. Yahoo! Sports


Jun 30 Laird's back spasms that caused him to leave Saturday's loss to the Astros have subsided and aren't expected to be a problem going forward, Mlive.com reports.

Recommendation: Laird has caught back-to-back games since suffering the back spasms and should be a safe play going forward.
