SS Rafael Furcal, who had been mired in a 4-for-25 slump over his previous eight games, went 4-for-5 with a double. With Manny Ramirez back in the lineup and Juan Pierre thus relegated to the bench, Furcal batted in the leadoff spot for the first time since May 8, the second game of Ramirez's 50-game suspension. Furcal's double off Chad Gaudin leading off the fourth inning was his first extra-base hit since a first-inning double off the Chicago White Sox's John Danks on June 23.

Furcal went 4-for-5 with a double and a steal in the Dodgers' win over the Padres Friday.
Recommendation: The steal was only his seventh of the season, and his first since June 9. He had eight in a 36-game season in 2008, so we question whether his stolen base ability will return like it once was.
