3B Eric Chavez (sore right shoulder) will rejoin the team Friday in Oakland after spending the past three weeks rehabbing at home in Arizona. Chavez is expected to resume baseball activities, but it is unclear when he will be at game speed and whether he will require a rehab assignment. If he has any continued trouble with the shoulder, surgery is expected to be the next option, although MRIs have shown irritation rather than any structural damage. He had minor surgery on the shoulder in October to clean out bone spurs.
