May 24 Thome (back) hit in an extended spring training game Thursday, the Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

Recommendation: Thome has been sidelined since April 29 with a strained lower back. The Phillies are hoping he can be ready to come of the disabled list to DH when the Phillies visit American League parks during Interleague Play for a nine-game stretch June 8-17.
