The Red Sox optioned Bobby Dalbec to Triple-A Worcester on Friday after he batted just .132 with a .207 on-base percentage, .170 slugging percentage, .377 OPS, two doubles, four RBIs, four walks and 28 strikeouts in 22 games (59 plate appearances). Manager Alex Cora wants Dalbec to go down there and relax. One thing Bres (chief baseball officer Craig Breslow) told him, he played great at first base.
Chad Tracy knows that a handful of his players aren't happy to be in Worcester over Boston. Still, the WooSox manager wants to help them return to the show.
Trevor Story, Triston Casas and Vaughn Grissom have all been sidelined with injuries, while Rafael Devers remains. The Sox have been on a tear when it comes to adding infield depth On April 30, Boston traded for an additional infielder and it signed another who recently opted out of his previous contract. The New York Mets have traded infielder Zack Short to Boston for cash considerations.
