Zeeland’s Cityside, Early Childhood Center added to outbreak report

ZEELAND — A pair of Zeeland Public Schools buildings were among seven Ottawa County schools listed on the state’s School-Related Cluster and Outbreak Report this week.

Zeeland’s Cityside Middle School and Early Childhood Center were added to the report with five and four cases of COVID-19, respectively. Both buildings had student and staff cases involved.

The schools on the Nov. 8 edition of the report are the first K-12 buildings in the Holland area added since Oct. 4.

Other Ottawa County schools included in the report were Grand Haven’s Rosy Mound Elementary and White Pines Intermediate, Hudsonville’s Baldwin Street Elementary, Jenison’s Bursley Elementary and Coopersville High School.

In ZPS’ most recent COVID-19 update, posted Friday, there were 16 total cases at Cityside and five at the Early Childhood Center.

West Ottawa Public Schools posted an updated dashboard Monday showing 32 active student cases, with at least one at each school in the district. There have now been 203 total student cases at WOPS this school year.

Holland Public Schools posted an update Friday evening reporting 13 new student cases for the second consecutive week. Seven of the student cases were at Holland High. There were also five staff cases in the district last week.

To date, HPS has had 83 student and 21 staff member cases of COVID-19.

Hamilton Community Schools posted an update Friday evening showing eight active cases, six of them students. There have been 76 student and 21 staff member cases this school year.

A letter posted Friday by Fennville Public Schools reported five new cases, all students. There have been 31 cases in FPS buildings this school year.

Black River Public School updated its dashboard Monday, showing one new case. There have now been 27 cases at BRPS this school year.

An update from Holland Christian posted Monday reported two new cases, both staff members. There were a total of 10 active cases, seven students and three staff members.

So far this school year, Holland Christian has had 37 student cases and 19 staff cases of COVID-19.

Grand Valley State University’s dashboard showed 95 active cases Monday morning. That included 32 students living off campus in Ottawa County, 32 students living off campus in Kent County and eight students living on campus.

The seven-day average for new cases per day in the GVSU community was up to 12.29 in the update Monday, a new high for the semester.
