Liverpool midfielder Kevin Stewart has left the squad’s pre-season tour of Asia to join Hull City in an £8 million deal. The 23 year-old looks to be heading in the opposite direction to left-back Andy Robertson who is on the verge of securing an Anfield move for £10 million. Several Championship sides have expressed an interest in Stewart during the summer, who has featured regularly under Jurgen Klopp and recently signed a new deal at Anfield.
Hull City have reportedly accepted a £2m bid for Tom Huddlestone from Derby County, which is set to see the midfielder return to his first professional club this summer. According to Sky Sports News HQ, Derby have activated the 30-year-old's £2m release clause to bring him back to Pride Park ahead of the other reported suitors, West Brom and Newcastle. Huddlestone was part of the Tigers squad who dropped down the the Championship last season, making 39 appearances in all competitions for the Yorkshire side last term. Not content to simply sit on the team that barely missed out on the playoffs, Victor Orta and Thomas Christiansen have gone out and acquired a number of new players in various positions, with midfielder Mateusz Klich coming over from FC Twente, wingers Madger Gomes and Ezgjan Alioski from Liverpool’s Academy and FC Lugano respectively, goalkeeper Felix Wiedwald from Werder Bremen, forward Samu Saiz from Huesca, striker Caleb Ekuban from Chievo Verona, midfielder/defender utility man Vurnon Anita on a free transfer from Newcastle, and made the loan deals permanent for Pontus Jansson from Torino and Hadi Sacko from Sporting Lisbon. This is not including the Academy signatures of Rayo Vallecano’s Alejandro Machuca and Adrian Balbao from U.D. Unificación Bellvitge, both from Spain.
