Gold is in demand this morning, as investors move into the haven asset while keeping watch on political reaction in the Middle East to the death over the weekend of two key figures in Iran. The country’s president, Ebrahim Raisi and Hossein Amirabdollahian, its foreign minister, were killed in a helicopter crash in a remote part of the country. Oil prices also ticked higher, by $0.25 to $84.25 for Brent crude, the international benchmark.
