Ko, Broch Larsen lead CP Women's Open as Henderson lurks

World No. 1 Jin Young Ko of South Korea fired a bogey-free 7-under 65 on Saturday to grab a share of the lead with Denmark's Nicole Broch Larsen at the CP Women's Open in Aurora, Ontario. Ko, who is bogey free through 54 holes, carded seven birdies on her day at Magna Golf Club to move into a tie atop of the leaderboard at 18-under 198 alongside Larsen, the second-round leader who shot 66 for the third straight day.

Djokovic unfazed by foot blisters ahead of U.S. Open

Novak Djokovic interrupted his U.S. Open practice twice on Saturday to have a trainer look at his right foot but the defending champion said the discomfort was due to blisters and is not a concern. So uncomfortable was Djokovic that he removed his shoe and sock to have his right foot inspected. Later in the practice he stopped mid-sprint, lifted his right leg off the ground and hopped around on his left foot.

Gomes helps Nationals pull away for win over Cubs

Yan Gomes went 2-for-5 with two doubles and two RBIs, and the Washington Nationals pulled away for a 7-2 win over the host Chicago Cubs on Saturday afternoon. Howie Kendrick drove in two runs and Anthony Rendon, Juan Soto and Adam Eaton also drove in one run apiece for the Nationals, who will go for the series sweep on Sunday. Washington has won four games in a row, six of seven and 11 of 13.

Panthers coach Rivera: No timetable for Newton's return

Cam Newton might be in jeopardy of missing the Carolina Panthers' opener against the Los Angeles Rams on Sept. 8. Panthers coach Ron Rivera said "there is no timetable" for the quarterback's return, two days after Newton suffered a left mid-foot sprain in a preseason game against the New England Patriots. Newton exited the stadium in a walking boot and X-rays detected the sprain.

Vikings use run, pass to down Cardinals

The Minnesota Vikings started their third preseason game with a bang Saturday, and ended with one, too, defeating the visiting Arizona Cardinals 20-9 in Minneapolis. Running back Dalvin Cook set a team preseason record with an 85-yard run for a touchdown to give the Vikings a 7-3 lead with 7:10 left in the first quarter. His only other carry was a 3-yard gain.

Athletics: Lyles romps to 200m victory in Paris

World championship favorite Noah Lyles stormed to the year's second fastest 200 meters, 19.65 seconds, as he returned to competition at the Paris Diamond League meeting on Saturday. Reigning world champion Ramil Guliyev of Turkey was more than three-tenths of a second adrift in 20.01 and Canadian Aaron Brown finished third in 20.13.

Turner, Gonsolin provide heroics as Dodgers edge Yanks

Justin Turner hit a home run and rookie Tony Gonsolin pitched five strong innings as the Los Angeles Dodgers held on for a 2-1 victory Saturday afternoon over the visiting New York Yankees. The Yankees loaded the bases with one out in the ninth inning against Dodgers closer Kenley Jansen on consecutive singles by Gleyber Torrez and Brett Gardner, as well as a fielder's choice grounder by Gio Urshela when the Dodgers were late on the throw to second while trying to get Gardner.

Thomas leads McIlroy, Koepka by 1 in storm-delayed Tour Championship

Justin Thomas holds the lead Saturday after the suspended third round of the Tour Championship at East Lake in Atlanta. Thomas finished only five holes before officials halted play with vicious storms in the area Saturday. Unlike a day earlier, play didn't resume.

Former finalist Anderson out of U.S. Open with knee injury

Former finalist Kevin Anderson has withdrawn from the U.S. Open due to a knee injury, tournament organizers said on Saturday. The South African, who reached the 2017 final in New York where he lost to Rafa Nadal, has not competed since he lost in the third round at Wimbledon last month.

USADA confirms Coleman charges after he says reports not true

American sprinter Christian Coleman has been charged with a potential anti-doping rule violation for failing to properly file his whereabouts information, the United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) said on Saturday.
