PGA Tour playoffs: 2017 FedExCup standings, rankings, money list
The lowest score wins in golf, but the highest number of points wins the PGA Tour's FedExCup playoffs.
After wrapping up golf's final major, the PGA Championship, the PGA Tour schedule shifts to a survive-and-advance style of play to crown the FedExCup champion. The winner of the FedExCup signifies the seasonlong PGA Tour champ.

Here's everything you need to know about the PGA Tour standings, rankings and money list entering the Tour Championship, the final event of the FedExCup playoffs.
2017 PGA Tour standings, rankings
The top five PGA Tour players in points heading into the Tour Championship are: Jordan Spieth, Justin Thomas, Dustin Johnson, Marc Leishman and Jon Rahm.
The points are reset to create drama with the final playoff event. This levels the playing field and brings guys like Spieth, Thomas and Johnson, who are way out in front with points, down to level things out.

After the points were reset following the BMW Championship, anyone in the top five who wins the Tour Championship this weekend can win the FedExCup and take home part of the Tour's largest purse at $10 million.
Players at the bottom of the top-30 standings would need to win the Tour Championship and have the rest of the field finish in the opposite order of their ranking. For No. 30 Jason Dufner, he would need to win East Lake and have No. 1 Spieth finish last. As you can see, the odds are slim, but it still gives the rest of the field a chance.

PGA Tour schedule: FedExCup playoffs
The four playoff tournaments are the final collection of PGA Tour events before the Presidents Cup. The playoffs began with the The Northern Trust (Aug. 24). Next was the Dell Technologies Championship (Sept. 1) and BMW Championship (Sept. 14). The FedExCup ends with the TOUR Championship (Sept. 24).

FedExCup playoff rules, cuts
The top 125 golfers in the FedExCup standings will compete for the Sam Snead Trophy. Golfers also have the chance to collect $32 million in prize money, meaning a total of $67 million is on the line during the playoffs.
The top 125 players are selected based on the number of points they have accumulated during the PGA Tour season through event wins and high finishes. The four FedExCup events are also worth more points than normal PGA events. The better the finish, the more points one receives. Dustin Johnson was the winner of the first event in a playoff against Jordan Spieth on Aug. 27.
Justin Thomas captured the second trophy of the playoffs at the Dell Technologies Championship, winning by three strokes over Spieth. Spieth moves into the top spot in FedExCup season points after his two second place finishes in playoff events.
Marc Leishman moved into the top five after winning the BMW Championship by a record score of 23-under.

The top five players in points after the BMW Championship are: Spieth (5,421), Thomas (5,081), Johnson (4,730), Leishman (4,084 ) and Jon Rahm (3,314). However the points reset before the final event to give everyone in the field an opportunity to win the FedExCup if they win at East Lake. The points for the top five after the reset are: Spieth (2,000), Thomas (1,800), Johnson (1,520), Leishman (1,296) and Rahm (1,280).

The top 30 players in points have advanced to the final weekend in Atlanta. The Northern Trust started with a field of 125, but the group decreased each week and that's where it gets interesting. The Dell Technologies Championship had 100 players, the BMW Championship had 70 and the Tour Championship will host the final top 30 players who will compete for first place that also includes a $10 million payoff.
Tiger Woods is the only golfer to win the FedExCup more than once, with wins in 2007, the inaugural year, and 2009. Other previous FedExCup champions include: Rory McIlroy (2016), Spieth (2015), Billy Horschel (2014), Henrik Stenson (2013), Brandt Snedeker (2012), Bill Haas (2011), Jim Furyk (2010) and Vijay Singh (2008).
