The Toronto Marlies won in overtime last night to force Game 3 against the Belleville Senators on the road on Sunday. The first round in the North Division playoffs is a best-of-three as a play-in to the normal bracket. The Marlies had a 3-1 lead in the second, but allowed two power play goals at the end of the second and at the end of the third as Belleville forced overtime. Dylan Gambrell was the hero, scoring early in overtime.
What I thought was going to be a more interesting series between London and one of their top rivals in Kitchener turned into more of the same from the first round. London steamrolled to a 4-0 sweep, with the only periods that Kitchener looked to be competitive occurring when the Knights got into dumb penalty troubles.
You have to be a member to comment at PPP. Easton Cowan finished the OHL regular season seventh in points, but second in points per game. A definitive record list is hard to find online, but it's believed Cowan has the second longest streak in 30 years (behind Bill Bowler). Beyond the streak, Cowan has been a workhorse at 5v5 and on the penalty kill.
