Packers Decline Eric Stokes' Fifth Year Option Following Injury Filled 2023 Season

GREEN BAY, WI (WSAU) – The Green Bay Packers are allowing a former first-round pick to earn a new deal following the upcoming 2024 NFL season. According to Mike Garafolo of NFL Network, the Green Bay Packers will not pick up cornerback Eric Stokes' fifth-year option. If Stokes' fifth-year option had been exercised by the Packers, he would have been entitled to a guaranteed $12.472 million salary in 2025. Stokes has played in only 12 games since his outstanding rookie season due to knee and foot injuries, but Head Coach Matt LaFleur says he expects him to be ready in 2024, adding, “He's been full go. He looks great.” The Packers' backup cornerback position is expected to be competitive this off-season,
