Panthers K Eddy Pineiro Remains Absent at Start of OTAs
Carolina Panthers kicker Eddy Pineiro was not on hand for the start of OTAs on Monday, creating more speculation about his future with the organization. This portion of the offseason workout program is voluntary, so the team can't slap Pineiro or others who choose to not participate with a fine. "I have not talked to him, so I think we're just focusing on the guys we have," Canales told reporters following Monday's practice.

This is a fine pick for the Panthers. They probably didn’t need to trade up, but moving up one spot to secure your guy isn’t the worst move in the world. They also needed to add a bigger player to their wide receiver room. This is solid pickup for the Panthers who really needed juice on offense.

Expert Commentary
The process here for the Panthers is a bit strange. Brooks is a quality running back prospect, but trading up for a player who will still be getting up to full strength as a rookie is a bit odd. Of course, if Brooks is back to pre-injury form, then this is moot. It just seems awfully risky from a pick allocation sense.
