Luke Evans has a well-documented history of loving to sing, and also loving Adele. (He contains multitudes.) When he stopped by the Ellen DeGeneres Show to promote Beauty and the Beast, Ellen the genius decided to combine Luke’s two interests for one wonderful bit in which he got to sing Adele in the shower with Adele. Unfortunately, the shower was a prop wheeled on stage and “Adele” was printed on a shower curtain alongside a headless man wrapped in a towel, but sometimes you have to take what you can get. Luke, who got his start in musical theater, obliged Ellen with a very credible rendition of “When We Were Young,” poking his head out above the shirtless torso and thanking Ellen for not making him take his clothes off on television.

The idea for this stunt came from a past video of Luke singing along to an Adele appearance on Ellen while FaceTiming with his mom. Apparently the “singing FaceTime” is a regular occurrence for Luke and his mom, and she tells him whether or not he sounds good enough to keep working on the song. Please take a minute now to text all your guy friends and ask them why they don’t do this, because it is adorable.
