    Solomon Islands chooses Jeremiah Manele as new prime minister

    Solomon Islands lawmakers selected a new prime minister in a secret ballot on Thursday, choosing foreign minister Jeremiah Manele, who has pledged to continue the Pacific Island nation's foreign policy that saw it grow close to China. Governor General Sir David Vunagi announced outside parliament house that Manele had won 31 votes, to Opposition leader Matthew Wales' 18 votes.

    The West Virginia basketball program has secured a major piece to the roster rebuild with a commitment from Oklahoma State transfer point guard Javon Small. Small, 6-foot-2, 180-pounds, selected the Mountaineers over a number of opportunities including Kansas, Mississippi, Miami, Villanova and plenty of others. West Virginia made Small a priority in the transfer portal and those efforts paid off with a commitment to the program giving the Mountaineers the high-level floor general that the coaching staff needed.
