    Sunrisers Hyderabad pulled off a sensational one-run win off the final ball to upstage table-topper Rajasthan Royals and break into the top four of Indian Premier League on Thursday. Needing two runs off Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s last ball, Rovman Powell (27) missed out a full toss and was out leg before wicket as Rajasthan finished on 200-7 for its only second defeat of the season in 10 games. Earlier, Hyderabad recorded its fifth 200-plus score of the season as Nitish Kumar (76 not out) and Travis Head (58) scored half-centuries and Heinrich Klaasen scored a rapid 42 off 19 balls to lift the home team to 201-3.

    Nebraska foreward Rienk Mast will have knee surgery and miss the 2024-25 basketball season

    Nebraska forward Rienk Mast will have surgery on his left knee and miss the 2024-25 season, coach Fred Hoiberg said Thursday. Mast, who averaged 12.3 points and 7.5 rebounds per game, said he plans to take a medical redshirt and return in 2025-26. Mast's six double-doubles were the most by a Nebraska player since 2007-08.

    Average game time drops 1 minute to 2:37 in second season of MLB pitch clock

    The average time of a nine-inning game is 2 hours, 36 minutes through the first full month of the major league season, down 1 minute from 2023 in the second year of the pitch clock. Over objections from the players' association, MLB lowered the timer to 18 seconds from 20 with runners on base while keeping it at 15 seconds with no runners. Union head Tony Clark claims the pitch clock may have contributed to pitcher injuries, calling the timer “an unprecedented threat to our game and its most valuable asset — the players.”
