University of Connecticut men's basketball Dan Hurley plans spoke publicly for the first time since he turned down the Los Angeles Lakers job. UConn held a media availability for 2:45 p.m. on Thursday on the Storrs campus. It was in a packed corner of the Werth Family Basketball Facility when Hurley answered question after question about his decision to turn down $70 million from the Lakers. There was nothing new on a contract that is expected to make Hurley the highest paid coach in college basketball, only that the deal was mostly done before the Lakers reached out.
