Gold prices steady as focus turns to US Fed minutes
Gold prices were steady and hovered above key $2,400 level on Wednesday, while investors await minutes from the Federal Reserve's latest policy meeting for fresh signals on the timing of U.S. interest rate cuts. Spot gold held its ground at $2,415.35 per ounce, as of 0345 GMT. One of the "factors supporting gold is fiat currency debasement undertaken by the U.S. and the developed nations due to the rising budget deficits," said Kelvin Wong, a senior market analyst for Asia Pacific at OANDA.

Judge in Trump classified documents case to hear more arguments on dismissing charges
Prosecutors and defense lawyers in the classified documents case against former President Donald Trump are due in court Wednesday for the first time since the judge indefinitely postponed the trial earlier this month. The case, one of four criminal prosecutions against Trump, had been set for trial on May 20 but U.S. District Judge Aileen Cannon cited numerous issues she has yet to resolve as a basis for canceling the trial date. On Wednesday, Cannon was scheduled to hear arguments on a Trump request to dismiss the indictment on grounds that it fails to clearly articulate a crime and instead amounts to “a personal and political attack against President Trump” with a “litany of uncharged grievances both for public and media consumption.”
