The NBA's Twyman-Stokes Teammate of the Year Award is not one of the league's most prominent awards. The NBA says the award goes to the "player deemed the best teammate based on selfless play, on- and off-court leadership as a mentor and role model to other NBA players, and commitment and dedication to team." The award is rooted in humanity, compassion, selflessness and trying to help those around you be the best person and player possible. The award is named after Maurice Stokes and Jack Tywman, teammates on the Rochester/Cincinnati Royals from 1955-58.
