A former Pistons lottery pick is being praised for his sportsmanship after an intense playoff battle. The gesture from Nuggets guard Kentavious Caldwell-Pope happened moments after his teammate Jamal Murray hit a buzzer-beater over the wingspan of Anthony Davis to beat the Lakers in Game 2 of their first-round playoff series on Monday night. Murray's heroics occurred near the Nuggets bench, so the team was able to quickly to dog pile on top of him in celebration.
The Nuggets prevailed in Game 1 behind a complete team effort, while the Lakers got little help outside of LeBron James and Anthony Davis.
1. KC3 meets the moment: At halftime the Nuggets looked like they were shooting 3s from Northglenn, bricking 6 of 23. Hard to tell who was worse: The Nuggets' long-range bombs or Rocky's endless half-court airballs. Kentavious Caldwell-Pope was scoreless and 0 for 3 from beyond the arc. Caldwell-Pope nailed four from distance in the third quarter as the Nuggets turned a three-point halftime deficit into an 89-75 cushion after 45 minutes.
