NBA Semifinals Ratings Score, ‘Kevin Can Wait’ Season Finale Steady With 2017
The band got back together on the Season 2 finale of Kevin Can Wait (1.0/4) as Adam Sandler and Chris Rock made guest appearances on the CBS comedy but the real rock stars of the night had to be LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers.
While the Kevin James show was down just a tenth from its Season 1 ender of May 8 last year, King James led the Ohio team to a crushing 128-93 win over the Toronto Raptors to sweep their NBA Conference Semifinal 4-0. Part of the doubleheader on TNT, the Cavs’ victory drew a 4.5 in metered market ratings to win the night on cable and see a rise of 41% over last year’s comparable Golden State Warriors vs. Utah Jazz match-up.
Overall, with the Philadelphia 76ers denying the Boston Celtics a conference sweep of their own, TNT’s NBA game on Monday scored a 3.7 in the overnight ratings.
The big winner among the Big 4 last night was NBC with a The Voice (1.4/6) fueled 1.3/5 rating among adults 18-49 and 6.76 million viewers. Though stumbling 13% from last week’s fast affiliates, which went up a tenth in the final numbers, the 8 – 10 PM Mark Burnett EP’d singing competition series was once again easily the top show of the night. Fellow unscripted heavyweight Dancing with The Stars (1.0/4) stepped a bit closer than usual to The Voice but was down a tenth from its April 30 season premiere.
At 10 PM, ABC’s The Crossing (0.5/2) was even with last week’s low while NBC’s Season 4 premiere of Running Wild with Bear Gryllis (0.9/4) was down 18% in the key demo from its Season 3 debut of August 1, 2016. CBS’ Elementary (0.6/3) remained exactly the same as its April 30 airing my dear Watson. Otherwise, the House of Moonves saw Man Wth A Plan (0.8/3) and Superior Donuts (0.7/3) also stay the same.
On Fox, Lucifer (0.7/3) and The Resident (0.9/4) were up a tenth from last week as was the CW’s iZombie (0.3/1). However, Supergirl (0.4/2) went down by the same metric from its April 30 show.
There’s more NBA action tonight with current champs the Warriors on the court in another doubleheader. Of course, today at the nets it is all about screenings and making decisions on which pilots are going to get picked up to series – which could give us a very different type of Monday next season.
