To be clear, the NFL's No. 1 overall draft pick should be impressive.

But in Browns defensive coordinator Gregg Williams' almost three decades in the league, Myles Garrett stands out.

"I've never had a chance to draft the first overall pick ever, but I've had some pretty high draft picks, Williams said (via Cleveland.com). "He's the one that has jumped out and fit in faster than any of the other ones, and I have had some really, really good ones.

Point of comparison: While with the Rams, Williams coached 2014 NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year Aaron Donald, a Pro Bowl selection in each of his three seasons.

That Browns depth chart was part of the early test Williams put Garrett through, initially slotting the rookie pass-rusher from Texas A&M on the third-team defense. Garrett's response? He's worked his way to the top, listed now as the starting right end, ready to test every Browns opponent's left tackle.

And about that testing left tackles? They're going to test Garrett, too. Before their preseason opener, one Saints player told ESPN they were looking forward to the "christening of the first pick in the 2017 draft." Garrett, frequently double-teamed, didn't record a sack, but he had a quarterback hit and a tackle for a loss.

"How do you handle (being last on the depth chart)?" Williams said. "How do you handle the locker room? How do you handle the meeting room? How do you handle the field? How do you handle the walkthroughs? How do you handle being humble? How do you handle being respectful? He's a really good young man and a pretty good player, too."
